VANDALIA, Ohio -- A house committee passes two amendments tacked onto a military spending bill as a result of the murder of local Marine Maria Lauterbach.
One provision prevents military protective orders from expiring during ongoing investigations. The other requires the military to notify local civilian authorities when they issue a protective order. Lauterbach accused Corporal Cesar Laurean of rape in 2007. She was murdered in December of this year; her body, found buried in Laurean's back yard. After an intensive manhunt, Laurean was arrested last month in Mexico.
