Restaurants Struggle Amid Rough Economy
05/16/2008 14:22:49
DAYTON, Ohio - For some Ohio restaurants, the weak economymeans fewer customers are coming in, while others say their tables
are still filled but patrons are spending less.
Taking note of the trends, the new monthly newsletter from the Ohio Restaurant Association carries the headline: "How to stay
competitive in tough economic times."
In the Dayton area, executive director Lisa Grigsby with the Miami Valley Restaurant Association says dining spots are trying to
save money by reducing deliveries, putting fewer options on their menus, scaling back hours and trying to win price breaks from
suppliers.
She says they're also trying to bring in more customers with new lower-cost, smaller-portion options and fixed-price deals on
multi-course meals.
